Preparing for a Korean Wedding with My American Husband, Part 1: Budget, Venue, and Studio-Dress-Makeup Timeline

🌏 Life in Korea | Living with My American Husband 🌏 Language: 🇰🇷 KR | 🇺🇸 EN We’re a Korean–American couple who got married in Korea  May 2024 . We decided to hold only a Korean ceremony, while celebrating separately with our U.S. family with a nice dinner and photos later. Because of that, the entire process followed Korean wedding customs , which felt quite foreign to my husband. It was my first time, too, but I at least had some idea of what to expect from my friends and family. He, on the other hand, had never been exposed to how that process works in Korea — so everything felt new. For anyone preparing a wedding with an American or otherwise-foreign spouse unfamiliar with Korean wedding culture , I’m sharing our full wedding timeline and practical tips by stage based on our real experience.

First Successful Burping! BB’s Soft, Fuzzy Hair Was Just Too Cute

[12/3 (Wed)·Day 9 with BB]

For the past few days, BB has been falling asleep in the middle of feeding, and I’ve just been putting him straight into his crib. But I started to worry—lying down right after feeding can cause spit-up, and it felt a bit risky. So today, I decided to try burping him properly.

I had tried a few times over the past several days, but I could never quite get the position right. Today, though, I finally found a posture that felt stable. BB must have felt comfortable too—he leaned his face gently against my shoulder and relaxed into my arms.

I could feel his small, round head moving softly against my neck and shoulder. The sweet baby scent, his soft hair brushing my neck, his warm body breathing quietly as he slept—everything filled my chest completely. It was a kind of happiness and emotion I had never felt before. How can someone so tiny give so much? It felt amazing and almost magical.

As I gently stroked his back and softly patted him, about ten minutes passed. Then I heard it for the first time—a quiet little “burp.” He really burped! I couldn’t believe it. BB stayed peacefully asleep on my shoulder, completely unfazed. I laid him gently back in his crib, then lay down myself and watched him for a while. It was a calm, happy afternoon.
